Spring Cleaning

How do you know when it's time to throw something away?

I am very good at going through my closet and getting rid of things I haven't worn in a while. I don't  think I get emotionally attached to my clothes, but the other night, Libby, my seven going on twenty year old, proved me wrong.

I went down in her room to kiss her goodnight wearing a pair of my favorite p.j.'s and Libby looked at me and said, "Were those pajamas cute when you bought them?"

When going to bed, I am not interested in making a fashion statement, I am all about comfort. Does the opinion of my seven year old really matter? It did in terms of the day she told Mattie I needed mineral make-up for my rat skin. (another story for another time...)

They are just a little old, maybe a little faded, but they have been washed and worn just enough for  ultimate comfort. Do I have to throw them out?

3.3.10

Here is my first attempt at my own post. It goes with along with funny stories so it is just an extension of Mattie's post and I guess this is how my blog will begin.

I had big plans of introductions but you can see how far that got me.

Funny Stories, Part II

Last night, I was sound asleep in bed and I heard this whispering.

-mom....mom.....mom

I woke up to see Will standing over me.

-Will... what do you need?

(in a low fast whisper)

-What?

-Your cell phone is ringing and you have two missed calls from Boise Idaho.

-Will. What are you talking about? My phone is right here.

-Just a minute.

(shuffling, shuffling, he's out of my room, more shuffling, shuffling, he's in my room again. Heavy breathing over my head.)

-Will, what are you doing?

-I'm the hottest.

-You're the hottest?

-Never mind.

-Let me feel your head.

(My older brother Mike used to get delirious when he had high fevers, Will feels cool and slightly clammy)

Brent: Will
What are you doing?
Go to bed.

Brent to me: What was he doing?
Why wouldn't you answer him?
You're so out of it.

-good night.

funny stories

this is mattie.

so today, my mom sent us away-from-home girls an email with some funny stories that happened this week in the daines family.  and i quote, "if i updated my blog, i would post these stories."

wait..."my blog?"  i think in order to call it "your blog," you actually have to write some posts, mom.  i hope you haven't been telling people that you have a blog.  poser!

it got me thinking, and i decided that i'd just post the stories for her.  here you go, in tearsa's very own words, but typed by mattie.  because copying and pasting it from the email into blogger is much too taxing for my technologically-troubled mother (you don't even have to post pictures, mom!).

Will and I were in the car and I asked him if he had any homework. He was going through each class and when he came to US History, he said, "Oh yeah, I have to make a map."
With that he suddenly bursts into song, "Mapmaker, mapmaker, make me a map." He then looked at me and said, "Is that how it goes?

We were at Will's church basketball game last night and our team was losing miserably. We had about 60 seconds left in the 4th period and the opposing team was dribbling the ball down the court. Thomas and his friend Jacob Allen started a loud count down, 5-4-3-2... I looked at the clock, we had 40 seconds left to play, however the other team suddenly shot the ball thinking it was the end of the game, everyone looked at the clock then all spectators on the stage burst into laughter because these two little boys had duped us all.

so what do you people think?  are you still out there?  do you still check this blog?  after over a year of her not posting a single thing?  desperately hoping that one day, maybe just one day, she'd have a post for you to read?  hello?

leave a comment and encourage my mom to send me more emails with things she'd like me to post on her blog.  it might just be easier that way.
