How do you know when it's time to throw something away?
I am very good at going through my closet and getting rid of things I haven't worn in a while. I don't think I get emotionally attached to my clothes, but the other night, Libby, my seven going on twenty year old, proved me wrong.
I went down in her room to kiss her goodnight wearing a pair of my favorite p.j.'s and Libby looked at me and said, "Were those pajamas cute when you bought them?"
When going to bed, I am not interested in making a fashion statement, I am all about comfort. Does the opinion of my seven year old really matter? It did in terms of the day she told Mattie I needed mineral make-up for my rat skin. (another story for another time...)
They are just a little old, maybe a little faded, but they have been washed and worn just enough for ultimate comfort. Do I have to throw them out?

Good post mom! Sounds like Libby and I must be sisters after all. I like the way you folded the pant leg in the picture. Good presentation! I don't think you have to throw them away. They're only pajamas.
libby is so subtle! at least the pj's match, though. i usually wear my DG t-shirt and ann taylor loft bottoms to bed. so i think you're good.
Mattie,
Don't let Libby know you do that. She just asked me why Meg and I wear t-shirts with p.j.'s that don't match.
Good thing Libby doesn't see me wear my big dog boxers with a t-shirt...she would really be worried about me.
Haha that is so funny!! I wonder what Libby would say about me wearing my Dick's grocery store polo to bed! I bet you still look adorable in those jammies!
